ISAIL.IN (Indian Society for Artificial Intelligence and Law) respectfully submits this feedback to the Committee to examine the intersection of Generative Artificial Intelligence and Copyright, constituted by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (IPR – Copyrights, Design and CIPAM Section) under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, as per the notification dated December 8, 2025. We appreciate the forward-thinking initiative of the Department in establishing this Committee to evaluate whether India’s existing copyright legal framework adequately addresses the challenges and opportunities presented by generative AI technologies.
